As a public body, the City is required to develop and report financial information. The City of Des Plaines aims to go above and beyond the basic reporting standards in an effort be transparent and enhance public awareness and understanding. In fact, the City is among the best in the country for public financial reporting and budget presentation.

Budget and Financial Reports Summary:

Warrant Register - A warrant register is on the regular City Council meeting agenda and includes a report of bills/invoices due and a request for authorization to make payment. The public can view the warrant register on each meeting agenda. It lists the budget account, vendor, invoice description and payment amount. 

Annual Budget - Provides the spending authority for all City departments and is the basis for virtually every City activity during that fiscal year, which runs from Jan. 1 - Dec. 31. 

Annual Comprehensive Financial Report - A set of audited financial statements compiled by the City and audited by a firm of independent certified public accountants utilizing GASB (Government Accounting Standards Board) requirements. The report is published within six months of the close of each fiscal year.

Popular Annual Financial Report - Presents the City's financial information in an understandable and easy-to-read format and provides an overview of the City's financial position. The report is published along with the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report within six months of the close of each fiscal year.

Annual Treasurer's Report - Statement showing the City’s annual receipts and disbursements. The report is published within six months of the close of each fiscal year.
