Human Services
Human Services (HS), an integral part of the Police Department’s Support Services Division, is in place to promote the health and well-being of Des Plaines residents through information and referral on programs and services available to community members. We offer services to residents of incorporated Des Plaines of all ages and demographics.
We partner with local agencies to address a wide array of issues faced by the community. Our holistic approach enables us to effectively link residents with the necessary resources including transportation, financial wellness, substance abuse treatment, housing, legal advice, food pantries, senior services to name a few.
HS is staffed with a Social Worker and a Police Counselor who provide assessments, crisis intervention, short term therapeutic intervention, case management, advocacy for domestic violence (DV) victims and victims of crime, and resource referrals including mental health referrals.
Please contact HS at 847-391-5480 with any concerns or questions you have regarding health and social issues for yourself or loved ones in the city. If the HS does not provide a particular service, we will connect you to someone who does.
Additional languages spoken by HS staff are Polish and Russian.
